July 4 to August 4, 1950: Grim Days in the Pusan Perimeter

A Personal Account by Colonel Thomas McGrail, U.S. Army (Ret.)

The following typewritten notes were made in the field by then-Lieutenant Colonel McGrail during his first month in Korea as CO of 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Division. They present a grim picture of those dark early days of the war. They were provided to KWMF by the late colonel’s daughter Joanne McGrail, and are published here for the first time.
